Dutch-based First Brick Holdings BV, a portfolio company of U.S.-based investment firm, Roha Group Inc, is mulling to invest $50 million in the digitalisation of East and Southern Africa by developing data centres across the region by 2022.

The data centres will open up new opportunities for financial services, governments and small to medium enterprises by addressing their mission-critical needs for data storage, business continuity and disaster recovery and create a network of data centres able to accommodate international and regional customers in state-of-the-art facilities

The company said that by leading investment in, and development of, data centres in the region, it is unlocking this latent demand in the market and removing a significant barrier to the continued digital transformation of this vibrant market.

Raxio Data Centre Ltd., a U.S. investment arm of Roha Ventures, is delivering Uganda’s first state-of-the-art Tier III, carrier neutral data centre in the Namanve Industrial and Business Park. Due to open in mid-2019, the data centre will have the capacity for up to 400 racks, delivering 1.5 megawatts of information technology power.
